Never Have I Ever- missed the train.
So, this is going to veer slightly off the beaten path of this blog about bucket lists.
A bucket list is a compilations of activities you wish to complete before a certain time. What’s the opposite of that? A list of activities I wish to NEVER do before a certain time. Missing a train, plane, cab, bus is one of them.
Being meticulously early for absolutely everything my entire life (and being a Virgo), I am constantly planning my day down to the minute. Today was the same as any other day- planned.
Everything was going according to this preset plan, until I arrived at South Station.
Rewind 5 minutes. I’m standing on the T, 2 stops away from South Station, biting my lip and tapping my foot, my heart racing at the sheer thought that I miss my train home at 1:40.
1:34. I run up the stairs at South Station- my upper body strength proving to be stronger than I had thought as I hold my 45 lb hot pink plastic suitcase while sprinting.
1:36. Scan. Print. Go!
1:37. At this point, I think I am golden. I run up to the train and a conductor laughs at me as I am panting. “Honey, this is your return ticket to Boston. You printed the wrong one.”
SHIT.
1:40. Missed the train.
The details as to how and why I printed the incorrect ticket are yet to be uncovered. So 4 hours and 78 extra dollars later I am sitting at Boston Common Coffee Co (which I now consider my place of residency).
